EverGlide's Triple Threat

EverGlide has been a relatively hidden company heralded in the video game community as truly being for gamers, and we?ve gotta love ?em for catering to our every need. Their offerings are simple, top of the line mousepads and accessories for the serious gamer. Unfortunately, the mainstream has yet to catch on to the wonders that this company offers; big things can come in small packages and the smallest packages are the most commonly overlooked. If you have heard of EverGlide, they will need no introduction. If you have not yet heard of EverGlide, here is your introduction. It?s time to enter the true world of serious video games. The extremely kind people at EverGlide have sent me three of their products to test out, the fUnc sUrface 1030, the EverGlide Wrist Rest Plus, and the now famous EverGlide Attack Pad.

All this for mousepads and wrist rests? You must think I?m crazy, well I?m not? completely. Redesigning a mousepad is a little like re-inventing the wheel, mousepads have existed in the same size, shape, and materials without ever really evolving. The only variation on the mousepad is usually if you want a floral, cartoon, little kids, abstract, or a Star Wars design. Now, if you have read my review of the Razer Boomslang 2000, or if you have had the chance to rip your buddy a new one with it, you know what a difference an overlooked piece of hardware can make, and believe me, the mousepad is even more overlooked than the mouse.

Now, in order for a high performance piece of equipment to work properly, it does need some basic requirements in terms of its accessories. It?s really pretty straightforward. If you buy a match grade rifle, you need premium bullets and a top of the line scope in order for the gun to operate at it?s full potential. If you have an Indy car, you need specially designed tires; you can?t just stick a set of Goodyear radials on there and send her on her way. Well, it would be pretty cool to watch the tires instantly shred off in all directions, but that?s just me. If you have a brand new GeForce 3, you can?t stick it in a PII-266Mhz machine and expect the thing to play Quake 3 at 234,778,192.3 FPS. You have to put that equipment in the proper environment in order for it to excel. The best news of all this is that if you don?t have the $80 to drop on a Boomslang 2000, there is a cheaper way to get better control from all your games and apps regardless of what mouse you do own.

Take me to the fUnc sUrface 1030 review!
