Pro Pilot 2000 to Premiere

Date: May 6th

Dynamix has announced the development of Pro Pilot 2000, the fourth title in the series. Scheduled to ship this September, the general aviation flight simulator will include an initial feature set that incorporates Hawaiian scenery, a new Air Traffic Control system, a new in-dash Global Positioning System, 800x600 resolution for larger and more detailed aircraft panels and support for OpenGL graphics cards. It will be shown for the first time at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Pro Pilot 2000 aims to strengthen the feature set the series is renown for, including aircraft panel design, navigation capabilities and pilot assistance. For example, the panels for each aircraft will use 800x600 graphics resolution. Also included are two fully featured in-dash GPSs and a moving map display. In addition, the development team has created a new Air Traffic Control system that provides pilots with flawless radar vectoring through a complete terminal and enroute airspace environment.

Dynamix is also enhancing atmospheric effects. Additions include haze effects, precipitation, lightning and thunder. The simulation will also have support for 3D graphics cards that support 3dfx and OpenGL.

The simulation can introduce novices to the fundamentals of flying civilian aircraft. Users practice actual flying techniques in a progression of aircraft from a single engine trainer to a speedy multi-engine jet. Aircraft in include the Cessna C172R, the Beechcraft Bonanza V35, Beechcraft Baron B58, Beechcraft King Air B200 and the Cessna CitationJet 525. Realistic 3D terrain represented includes the United States, Western Europe, Montreal and Toronto.

Pro Pilot 2000 also includes a pop-up operating manual developed in cooperation with the National Association of Flight Instructors. These 48 in-depth tutorials can be viewed on screen while flying and provide instant access to to-do lists, performance data, scenic and challenge flights and a customizable notes page. The title also offers full freedom of movement around the aircraft, 38 million elevation points based on the USGS data and an automatic route generation for flight planning. The flight planning wizard allows automatic route generation through selecting departure and arrival information. With it, users can fly under Visual Flight Rules or Instrument Flight Rules, review weather information and select VORs, NDBs and airports as waypoints for the planned route.
