Activision's E3 Lineup

Date: May 3rd

Games publisher Activision will debut four PC games at the Electronic Entertainment Expo on March 13. The lineup includes sequels to two acclaimed games, Dark Reign 2 and Battlezone 2, as well as two new titles, Soldier of Fortune and Vampire: The Masquerade.

The sequel to the award-winning game Battlezone will lead the charge into the new millennium of war games. A revolutionary action-strategy title, the sequel lets players command the front lines and features an easy-to-use interface, more multiplayer options and stunning graphics. Players command over 30 unique units, including armored vehicles, infantry and mobile assault turrets as they explore interactive, living worlds. Wielding over 25 weapons, including mortars, mines and the Thumper, players can trigger earthquakes on-the-fly with the fully deformable and morphable terrain.

Set on Earth in the 26th century, Dark Reign 2 is a prequel to the real-time strategy game Dark Reign. The game chronicles the uprising of futuristic tribes against an iron-fisted ruling elite and places gamers inside an epic battle at the beginning of the Freedom Guard-Imperium War. An immersive 3D real-time strategy game, Dark Reign brings players closer to the battlefield than any other RTS. While maintaining the crucial elements of base building, resource management and hard hitting combat, Dark Reign 2 also give players the freedom to transition from a top-down view to an infantry-level view -- and everything in between.

Soldier of Fortune is a realistic first-person 3D hardware-only shooter based on an enhanced version of id Software's Quake 2 engine. Immersing players in a covert world of international intrigue, the game delivers die-hard combat action. As mercenaries for hire, players are deployed for explosive tours of duty to such political hot spots as Iraq, Siberia and Columbia where they commence missions to overthrow governments, rescue hostages and lead other dangerous operations. Based on real world locations and events, Soldier of Fortune features actual military weapons, a realistic physics model and sophisticated AI. As they advance through the game, players choose their combat style, from stealth warfare to all out combat action.

Based on White Wolf Publishing’s successful Vampire series, Vampire: the Masquerade is a 3D action role-playing game that chronicles the tale of Christof Romuald, a knight in medieval Prague, through an 800 year span. Featuring an in-depth story that faithfully represents White Wolf Publishing’s gothic World of Darkness, the game combines intriguing characters, beautiful graphics, challenging puzzles and solid multiplay options with an engaging adventure that extends to four different cities. Vampire: The Masquerade’s state-of-the-art 3D engine, intuitive mouse-only interface and innovative storyteller mode will recreate the traditional role-playing game experience.
