1999 E3 Coverage: Pre-Event

More than 1,900 PC and video game titles will be introduced at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the world's leading showcase for the interactive entertainment industry, which runs May 13-15th. E3 1999 will occupy more than 536,000 net square feet of exhibit space at the Los Angeles Convention Center. A total of 400 exhibitors will display the latest interactive products that millions of Americans will be bringing home this holiday season.

Looking Glass Studios will showcase an exhilarating lineup of upcoming computer games, including Flight Combat: Thunder Over Europe, Flight Unlimited III and System Shock 2.

Microsoft's E3 Lineup (9:00pm EST)
Microsoft plans to showcase more than a dozen titles at E3. They include Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings, Flight Simulator 2000, Links LS 2000, Asheron's Call and Starlancer, among others.

Mindscape's E3 Lineup (12:00am EST)
Mindscape Entertainment has announced its product lineup for the 1999 Electronic Entertainment Expo, and it’s a long one. The division will showcase 16 new titles, in a 12,000 square foot area located just off the main show floor, including Prince of Persia 3D.

Empire Interactive's E3 Lineup (12:00am EST)
Empire Interactive has announced its largest product lineup to date. It will debut the upcoming slate at this year's E3, introducing titles for the flight simulation, arcade and strategy categories. Titles being showcased include MiG Alley, Wargamer: Napoleon 1813-1814, Sheep, Pro Pinball: Fantastic Journey, Supernova, Comanche Hokum, and Motor Racing.

Pro Pilot 2000 to Premiere (9:00pm EST)
Dynamix announced the development of Pro Pilot 2000, the fourth title in the company's Pro Pilot line of civilian simulation products. The game will be on display at next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Sierra's E3 Lineup (9:30pm EST)
Sierra Studios has announced its lineup of titles to be showcased at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, May 13 through 15. They'll be showcasing Half-Life: Opposing Force, Team Fortress 2, Homeworld, Pharoah, Babylon 5: Space Combat Simulator, Orcs: Revenge of the Ancient, and Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned; the latest in the Gabriel Knight series.

Interplay's E3 Lineup (5:30pm EST)
The impressive breadth of titles being featured by Interplay include, nine PC titles. Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Planescape: Torment, Star Trek: Starfleet Command, Messiah, FreeSpace 2, F/A-18E Super Hornet, Star Trek: Klingon Academy, Star Trek: New Worlds, and Evolva and four console games (Wild Water World Championships and Carmageddon for the Sony PlayStation as well as Nintendo 64 versions of Carmageddon and Earthworm Jim 3D.

VR-1 Announces E3 Lineup (4:30pm EST)
Continuing its leading position as a cutting-edge developer of online games and technologies, VR-1 will demonstrate its exciting 1999 line-up at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), May 13-15 at the Los Angeles Convention Center (booth #2658, West Hall). At the show, VR-1 will showcase six titles including Microsoft Fighter Ace? II, Pepelaz (working title) and three games slated for distribution on America Online's Games Channel: Nomads of Klanth, VR-1 Crossroads and The S.A.R.A.C. Project.

Gathering of Developers, is planning an apocalyptic E3. The company will showcase eight games: Delphine Software’s Darkstone, DMA Design's Grand Theft Auto 2, Terminal Reality’s Nocturne and FLY!, Ritual Entertainment’s Heavy Metal F.A.K.K. 2, Third Law Interactive’s KISS Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child and Rune from Human Head Studios and Epic Games.

Quake 3 to Premiere at E3 (12:00am EST)
Activision and id Software will deliver a cataclysmic level of 3D action at the 1999 Electronic Entertainment Expo with the debut of Quake III Arena. Designed as a 3D hardware-only title, Quake III Arena features a next-generation engine that continues id's signature hard-hitting action. The game is expected to hit retail shelves in 1999 and will be distributed by Activision.

Deus Ex Premiering at E3 (12:00am EST)
Eidos Interactive has announced its E3 line-up, and attendees are going to get their hands on one of the most eagerly anticipated upcoming 3D games in development, ION Storm and Warren Spector’s Deus Ex. The story the Unreal engine-based action-RPG is wrapped up in seems familiar on the surface: It is the new millennium; civilization is near collapse; the world economy is in chaos; the middle class no longer exists; terrorism runs rampant; and it is five minutes and counting to the apocalypse.

Star Trek Games at E3 (12:00am EST)
At the Electronics Entertainment Expo, Activision will boldly go where no other interactive entertainment company has gone before when the company unveils Star Trek: Voyager Hazard Team, the first game set in the Star Trek: Voyager universe, Star Trek Armada, the first space-based real-time strategy game set in the Star Trek: The Next Generation universe and Star Trek Insurrection, the action-adventure game based on the 1998 feature film from Paramount Pictures.

Activision's E3 Lineup (12:00am EST)
Games publisher Activision will debut four PC games at the Electronic Entertainment Expo on March 13. The lineup includes sequels to two acclaimed games, Dark Reign 2 and Battlezone 2, as well as two new titles, Soldier of Fortune and Vampire: The Masquerade.

Eidos' E3 Lineup (12:00am EST)
Eidos plans on showing several PC and Playstation games including Abomination and Cutthroats from HotHouse, Anachronox, Daikatana and Deus Ex from Ion Storm, Braveheart from Red Lemon, Omikron from Quantic Dream, Revenant from Cinematix and Urban Chaos from Mucky Foot. Eidos also plans on showing off dual platform versions (Playstation and PC ) of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver by Crystal Dynamics and Saboteur by Tigon.

Red Storm's E3 Lineup (12:00am EST)
Red Storm Entertainment surprised the industry at last year’s E3 convention with its instant hit Rainbow Six. This year, the company plans to introduce another stellar line-up. Force 21, a real-time 3D tactical wargame, will be the 1999 showcase title for Red Storm Entertainment. Also on tap for Red Storm is the sequel to SpecOps, Rogue Spear, and Shadow Watch.

Westwood Announces E3 Lineup (12:00am EST)
Westwood Studios announced three titles they plan on showing off this year at the Electronic Entertainment Expo; Two of them are for the PC. The company plans to show off their upcoming roleplaying game Nox - a Diablo-esque action roleplaying game along with the sequel to the stellar hit Command & Conquer, Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun.
