Game Over Online Magazine - The Game Has Just Begun

Need for Speed: Motor City

  • Electronic Arts has announced the next title in the Need for Speed series entitled Motor City. Need For Speed: Motor City promises to establish a virtual world inspired at the hand of the pinnacle of American car culture.

Throughout, people will be able to congregate in numerous 24-hour hot-rodder hangouts to swap stories, exchange customization tips and develop rivalries. Although gamers will race, there is more to the product than lead-footing the gas pedal. Users will be able to wager "cash" in a side street challenge, or compete for the Championship Cup in the sanctioned racing circuit. Using their winnings, gamers will be able to build up their inventory of cars and authentic auto parts.

Between races, people will be able to scour dealerships, garages, and garbage lots to find new cars and parts for customizing their vehicle’s appearance and performance. A functional economy will cause price changes depending on availability, meaning people will need to be careful regarding how hard-earned money is spent. Hot-rodders can then put the finishing touches on their cars and showcase their collection in their personal garage. The game will also be supported with a virtual town newspaper from which people can get news, driving tips, buy or sell cars, learn where the cops hang out and who got busted for doing 65 mph in a 25 mph area.
